Publications and asset updates

Keep source documents separate from what they say about each mining asset

A publication is a source document, such as a release or technical report. One publication can describe several mining assets. Each asset update describes what that publication says about one asset.

Search by asset

Use POST /v1/publications/search/ with mining_asset_id to search an asset and its active sub-assets. Only fully processed, visible publications are returned. With scope: "title" or scope: "both", search also matches asset-specific headlines.

The response remains grouped by publication, and count, limit and offset refer to publication groups. Each group's asset_updates array contains every matching asset update in the requested subtree. Do not deduplicate these updates by publication_id: parent and child assets can have different news in the same document. Unscoped searches return an empty asset_updates array.

Display fields and identity

FieldMeaning
entity_typeasset_publication for an asset update
id, publication_relation_idThe asset-update ID
publication_idThe source publication's ID
mining_asset_id, mining_asset_nameThe asset this update describes
display_title, display_summaryThe asset-specific headline and summary

Use display_title and display_summary when presenting news about an asset. The publication's title, ai_headline and ai_summary describe the whole document and remain available separately. Missing asset headlines display Asset update; missing asset summaries are null. They never fall back to whole-publication text or asset background.

Dossiers and drill disclosures

An asset dossier's recent_news contains one row per asset update across the active subtree. Each row identifies an asset_publication: id and publication_relation_id are the update ID, while publication_id identifies its source document. It carries mining_asset_id, mining_asset_name, display_title and display_summary alongside the publication metadata. ai_asset_overview is background information, separate from that update's news summary. Drill dataset rows expose the corresponding identity and display fields in asset_update.

The dossier's publications_count and document-kind counters count distinct source documents. asset_updates_count counts asset-specific updates, so a document covering two matching assets contributes one document and two updates.

In Pulse AI, asset-update citations reopen the exact update rather than the source document's generic overview. Whole-publication views continue to show the publication header and summary when an asset is selected for browsing.

Latest company reports

A company dossier's latest_reports holds the company's latest annual report and latest interim report, each null when none is on file. annual is the full annual report or filing (annual report, 10-K, 20-F, AIF, year-end MD&A). interim is any other periodic report: quarterly and half-year reports, MD&As, results releases and decks, and ASX quarterly activities and cash flow reports.

Each report carries the period it covers as period_end_date and period_months. period_end_date is always the last day of a month, so every document of one period compares equal. period_months is the period's length: 3 for a quarter, 6 for a half-year, 12 for a full year. period_label is the period exactly as the document prints it, for example Q2 FY26; fiscal years differ by company, so use the dates to compare companies.

When a company has several documents for its newest period, the longer period is preferred (a half-year report over the June-quarter cash flow report), then a document in English, then a PDF, then the longest document.

Change log

2026-10-07 — asset-update identity (pending deployment)

This approved v1 contract change ships with PR #3477.

  • Asset dossier recent_news changes from one row per publication to one row per asset update. The default limit of 20 now counts updates, so it may include fewer distinct source publications. Use entity_type: "asset_publication" with the row's id for update identity; use publication_id for source-document identity.
  • Publication search with mining_asset_id includes the asset's active descendants, rather than only direct relations. Results remain grouped by publication; the nested asset_updates identify each matching asset.
  • Publication detail related_assets exposes valid, focused asset updates from fully processed publications, matching the citation resolver's eligibility.
  • Drill dataset publication.title uses the canonical document title (ai_content_title when available, otherwise the source title). It remains a document label, distinct from asset_update.display_title.

Clients should key dossier news by update ID and use the explicit publication_id when linking, grouping or deduplicating source documents.
